In a flash that pained the vampires and their followers the old woman was no longer before them, but a beautiful Elder woman. She rose to float a few inches above the ground, sword and shield ready. She glanced at him saying,

"Creatures of Diamante. I will deal with you and yours for what has happened this night. But I see now that there is a greater foe that must be dealt with first. Aid me here or else you may find your undeath ending prematurely."

The seven actually showed fear for the first time. Before them now floated the High Priestess of Syreal, in all of her power and glory. Seven against seven, darkness and light working in tandem to preserve their ways. With an explosion of magic and steel, the fight was joined.

Blades met blades, spells met spells as each squared off against an opponent.
He and Kelkin tried to keep her at their side, but both were separated in the ensuing melee. He drew blood from the check of his foe, savoring the coppery tang of the smell. Cries of pain came from both sides as they gave and took wounds. There was a sudden flash of brilliant light, and a scream. He turned to see Pentamere go flying across the room, to slam hard into the wall. Blood was pouring from her throat, where it was horribly burned and savaged.
